COVID-19 Policy & Procedures

To ensure the health and safety of our students and faculty, PL3Y International Inc has mandated the following policies and procedures to be followed, at minimum, by regional PL3Y Education licensee, in order to mitigate risks related to COVID-19. 

PL3Y Education licensees will follow safety guidelines outlined by the Government of Canada, as well as local health agencies according to each region where programs are delivered. As such, each region’s policies and procedures are subject to change as provincial and regional guidelines evolve.

Responsibilities of PL3Y Education Regional Provider / PL3Y Instructor

To keep students safe:

Health History

  • Instructors will not report to work if, within the last 14 days, they have been unwell or have had contact with a known or suspected case of COVID-19.

Signage

  • Instructors will post signs with passive screening and safety information as reminders at the program entrance. 

  • Signage will include: hand hygiene, mask bylaw (if applicable), physical distance reminders, and self-assessment questions etc.

Face Masks

  • Instructors must wear face coverings when entering school buildings and moving throughout the school’s common areas. 

  • Masks are required inside school common areas at all times, including hallways and washrooms. 

  • Once inside the gymnasium and within their designated teaching space, instructors can remove their masks, because physical distancing can take place.

  • Instructors must wear masks at all times when physical distancing cannot take place.

Hand Washing

  • Instructors are required to wash and sanitize their hands in between each group. 

Cleaning of Equipment

  • Instructors will sanitize their equipment in the gymnasium after every class. 

  • Instructors will use a government approved cleaner to wipe any surfaces touched by students during an in-person session to ensure that our staff and students are kept safe. 

  • Instructors will keep a log book for all cleaning tasks.

Class Size

  • Class sizes will be limited due to physical distance measures and the size of each program space. 

Physical Distancing

  • Students will be placed in designated movement ‘spots’ - 6 feet apart, as measured and marked out by the school prior to the start of the program. 

  • Class numbers will depend on the current Public Health requirements and space available in each school gymnasium.

Equipment/Props

  • Props will be eliminated from all programs for the 2020-21 school year.

Body Contact

  • There will be no body contact (eg.  high fives, holding hands, elbow swings, partner work or group work) 

Programming Alternatives

  • Options for at-home, hybrid and in-school programming will be offered 


Responsibility of Schools (As Per Booking Contract)

Physical Distancing Markers

  • Schools are required to measure and mark spaces / “spots” in the gymnasium where students can stand, at least 6 feet apart. 

Class Size

  • Teachers are responsible for ensuring that group sizes stay below the space capacity, as identified in the booking contract.

Hand Washing

  • Teachers are responsible for ensuring that each student washes and sanitizes their hands prior to entering, and after exiting, the gymnasium or room where the program will be held.

Attendance

  • Teachers are required to take attendance for every class, in order to support contact tracing.
